From NASA Via FB – Photo Bob Ciotti Very cool – the “see more cray” version. Actually worked on that exact machine’s unicos kernel. Thats Navier. In the good old days at NAS, everyone took a lot of pride installing those systems. When I was cleaning out my office last year, I found this coffee mug in my filing cabinet. May have come come from Cray (Chuck Breckenridge maybe) or the Pubs media team. Shows Navier October 1985 and on the other side, Stokes January 1988. A Y-MP soon to follow. I was working for the competition at that time – ETA Systems – where we could get comparable performance to the Cray 2 or 100ish MegaFlops – CPU to CPU – for well behaved codes (yeah – I’m trolling you all 🙂 )
