Cray Channels Collection Notes

A selection of the Cray Channels Magazine Channels was a quarterly magazine published by Cray Research from 1979 through 1998. Channels was intended for the users and purchasers of Cray Systems.   The articles cover a wide range of supercomputing topics. Whilst not a formal journal, many of the articles provide comprehensive technical information about the applications and successes achieved with Cray Systems. A detailed and simple searchable index of the contents of the magazine is provided here for research purposes. Links are provided to source articles.

Data analysis of the Cray Channels Contents show the Organisations, Products and Article topics covered by the magazine.

Notes about the Cray Channels Sequence numbers and other oddities

From Correspondence with Jimbo 2005
I know what you mean about the channels having a weird numbering system. After they
went to the summer, fall, winter and spring titles, they moved back to a volume and number
system. In 1993 they moved to three issues a year, but before that something happened in
1992 as the spring issue was vol 14 no 1, but the summer issue was vol 14 no 3!!!  The fall
issue appeared as vol 14 no 4 and after that they dropped the seasons reference and just
gave them a volume number and an issue number. Interestingly … In 1993 and 1994 they
only put out 2 issues during the year, even though on the contents page it still said it was
being published 3 times a year!!!!

Publication defects
In issue  cc_v14_n3_f = Summer 91  the pages 32,33,34 in the section “Corporate Register” that are repeated from the Spring 92 issue. If you have correct version of V14_N3 please let us know as would like to get scanned copies of those missing pages.
